The Goodwill Collection was started in 1954 by Elizabeth Titus Fisher, after observing some of the antique dolls coming in through Goodwill donations. Mrs. Fisher formed the Auxiliary “Doll Committee” to sort, select, repair and display the dolls. As their movement progressed, the private “Goodwill Collection” was opened for public viewing. Since its establishment, the Goodwill Collection has grown due to generous donations and gifts from ladies who wanted to see their treasures preserved and placed where others could admire and enjoy them. Of the dolls that are included in this collection, many are very rare and represent many cultures, from French “fashion dolls” to an American folk doll that was buried in the soil before an Indian raid.
